The invention of the wheel and the wheelbarrow changed the world forever. By adding a wheel to a hand operated vehicle, it became possible for one man to do the work of two. Not only could he do the same work, he could move more swiftly and with less effort. The first recorded use of this tool occurred in ancient China.
Since the invention of the wheelbarrow in the 1st century BC, man has found it much easier to move heavy loads. Those used in China made it possible for one, and on occasion two men to transport up to six adults and their baggage relatively effortlessly. Over the course of the next 2,000 years, the design has only undergone a few minor changes to suit the purpose for which the cart was being used.
There are literally millions of wheelbarrows in use all over the world in construction, agriculture, and dozens of other endeavors, all with the sole intent of making man's life just a little bit easier.
